Delcam Professional Services is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Richards as UK Business Development Manager.  He will also be responsible for developing opportunities for the company’s process development and optimisation services in the growing Middle East market.

Robert has transferred from Delcam’s UK Sales Team, where he has spent the past ten years working with customers of all sizes across a wide range of industries to increase their productivity and profitability through the application of Delcam software.  Prior to that position, Rob spent six years in Delcam’s International Support team, where he provided technical assistance to Delcam’s global network of resellers.  During this time, he also helped Delcam’s development staff to create and prove out new toolpath technologies in conjunction with tooling suppliers.

Robert is a graduate in CADCAM Studies from Brunel University, where he gained experience in developing component designs for the aerospace industry using FEA.  Before joining Delcam, he had worked in two plastics companies, undertaking thermal and stress analysis of extrusion dies at the first, and manufacturing prototypes and initial production runs at the second.

Announcing the appointment, Paul Wilkinson, General Manager of Delcam Professional Services, said, “I am extremely pleased to welcome Robert to the team.  The combination of sales experience and technical knowledge he has developed during his time at Delcam makes him ideally suited to the position.”

Delcam Professional Services was formed as an independent subsidiary in 2011 through the combination of Delcam’s Professional Services Group and the company’s former Tooling Services Division, which was renamed the Delcam Advanced Manufacturing Facility.

The primary focus of Delcam Professional Services is to work with clients, mainly in the aerospace and power generation industries, to improve their manufacturing processes by increasing productivity, improving accuracy and shortening lead times.  For the majority of projects, these improvements are achieved through the use of adaptive machining, Delcam’s unique combination of machining and inspection technology.

The full range of services provided varies from supplying extra design and programming resources when the customer’s existing staff are overloaded, through to developing completely new turn-key processes for the production of novel designs, including the manufacture of prototypes or initial production runs.  These services are attracting greatly increased demand as many manufacturing companies are finding that their engineering resource is needed to maintain their on-going operations, leaving them limited capacity to introduce new products and develop new or improved processes.
